What I have done:

At 8:45 am I began digitizing backlogged site plans from the 2006 Amheida season. I started with a second plan of Room 5 in Area 1.3. I finished at 2:30 pm. This plan took an inordinate amount of time because of the sheer number of slopes that had to be digitized.

At 2:30 pm I began entering data from Ain el-Gedida's photograph list into their database. I had trouble with the database today and Bruno had already left for Ain el-Gedida so I wasn't able to enter any data.

At 3:40 pm we visited the Ain el-Gedida excavations and Nicola Aravecchia showed us around the site. It was satisfying to walk around the site where all the DSU, FSU, and photograph forms that I have entered originated.

What I have learned:

I learned the significance of slopes in archaeological site plans. The site plan I digitized today, Room 5 in Area 1.3, was sloped on nearly every feature. While digitizing this was somewhat frustrating, without all the slopes the plans would not be representative of reality.

Problems I have found:

Ain el-Gedida's database gave me some issues today. When I tried to enter photograph data, the database was unable to find any of the photos I requested. I looked in the folder where the photos are kept and they were all there so there was no reason for this issue to have happened. I was unable to enter any data because of this; I told Bruno and I am sure he will remedy it.
