What I have done:

On site I helped Valentina Liuzzi take measurements of various stones for her drawing. This took about an hour and it helped orient me with the layout of the collapsed stones in the temple. After assisting with the measuring, Page Strong and I cleaned the surface of DSU 119. We took the top layer of dense sand and mud brick down to a layer of clean yellow sand. We then cleaned as much of the sand out as possible, with no help from the wind.

While Page and I were cleaning DSU 119, a worker found an ostrakon (FN 39) written in Demotic script in DSU 123. We documented it, took its elevation, and I photographed it in situ for possible publication.

After cleaning a bit more sand from DSU 119, I directed the workers in excavating DSU 122 that until today consisted of DSU 121 and DSU 122. Yesterday we discussed canceling the pit labeled DSU 121 since it appeared to be part of the pit labeled DSU 122. After excavating today, we determined that the DSUs were in fact the same so we cancelled DSU 121.

When I returned from the field I finished Room 7 Plan #9 from the 2006 Amheida season, the plan I had begun yesterday, at 5:15 pm.

What I have learned:

I learned how to take measurements in order to make a drawing to scale. I also learned how to document and photograph an object that is found in situ.

Problems I have found:

I did have any problems today.
